Where your passion and your reason collide, your soul is born

My name is Natalya Rodriguez, I’m 32, and I live in Albuquerque New Mexico. I am a mother, girlfriend, writer, poet, bibliophile, artist, photographer, yogi, hiker, climber, politico, adrenaline junkie, and sometimes people person…. But only after coffee. Seem like a lot? Those are just a few of my stars. I like to imagine the soul as a constellation. The stars are our passions, desires, talents, and anything else that lights us up and brings us joy. The ways in which they all connect with each other paints a picture of our very unique souls. Scientists and astronomers have spent thousands of years studying the night sky, yet they still don’t have it all mapped out. They discover new things every day. We’re the same, we don’t need to have ourselves all mapped out. We should constantly be reflecting, exploring the depths of our sky, discovering new stars, mourning and letting go of stars that may have once burned bright, and forming new connections between them all. The soul is complex thing and evolves with time. This blog is a glimpse into mine. Complex, a bit chaotic, luminescent with some patches of darkness, but still beautiful. Enjoy! Maybe you’ll discover something you didn’t know about your own. – Natalya Angeline Rodriguez

ABQ BioPark Zoo – 2018

Show them the world that to us has become dull. Show them the big things and the small, the strong and the fragile, the fierce and the gentle. Watch the wonder in their eyes and remember that we live in a world that is anything but dull.

This piece is about words. It’s so easy to forget the impact our words can have on not only those we speak them to, but also to ourselves. Words can cut. When we’re angry we can allow ourselves to say things we can’t take back. Those words meant to hurt another can do as much damage to ourselves.
